The History of The Greater St. Louis Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes
The Branch Rickey Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes was founded in 1965 by a group of area coaches, professional athletes and businessmen who wanted to see the goals of FCA realized in the St. Louis area. The chapter was chartered in 1967 by the national organization and took its name from the former executive of the St. Louis Browns and the St. Louis Cardinals, Branch Rickey, an early supporter of FCA. From that small beginning, the Branch Rickey Chapter grew into an organization with thousands of young people involved in local huddles and programs for both adults and professional athletes. The name of the local chapter changed to the Greater St. Louis Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 1995.
The Chapter has been sustained by the Lord through a group of local men and women who make up its Board of Directors. The Board and Staff are continuing to seek God's direction in carrying out His work in our community. FCA serves the middle school, high school and college students in the greater St. Louis area.
